6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we rely on appropriate legal bases depending on the processing activity.

These may include:

Performance of a contract: where processing is necessary to provide Rilo or a feature you requested.

Legitimate interests: where processing is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, analyze, and improve Rilo, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.

Consent: where applicable law requires your permission, including for certain marketing, cookies, or similar technologies.

Legal obligations: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for legitimate legal, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution needs.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information.

If you delete your account or validly request deletion of your personal information, we will delete or de-identify the relevant information unless we are required or permitted to retain particular information.

Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period until those backups are replaced in the ordinary course.

8. International Data Transfers

Rilo and its service providers may process personal information outside the country in which you live.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal information, we will use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or other appropriate protections.

9. Your Privacy Rights

To exercise a privacy right, contact hello@getrilo.app.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Some rights are subject to exceptions or limitations under applicable law.

10. Cookies and Online Tracking

Rilo may use essential cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies required for authentication, security, preferences, and operation of the service.

To protect sign-in from automated abuse, the email step uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare receives technical information from your browser and device, including your IP address, to check that the request comes from a person. This check is part of keeping the service secure and does not depend on your cookie choices.

We use analytics and marketing technologies, including cookies, to understand how Rilo is used and to measure our marketing. Analytics covers the pages visited and steps such as starting a warmup or completing a purchase, with device type and approximate location. We never share your email, your name, or your warmup and survey answers with analytics or advertising providers. Analytics and marketing cookies are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time by rejecting them. If you reject analytics cookies, we still count visits without storing anything on your device. You can change your choice at any time through "Your Privacy Choices".

If Rilo uses optional analytics or advertising technologies that require consent under applicable law, we will provide the required notice and choices.

Our service providers may receive technical information as necessary to provide analytics, hosting, security, or other services described in this Privacy Policy.

Rilo does not currently sell personal information for money or use readiness, nervousness, or performance-response information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Where applicable law requires us to recognize a legally valid browser-based privacy preference, we will do so.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, misuse, or disclosure.

No internet service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

Rilo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent for a younger user to use an online service, the user should not use Rilo without the required consent.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, services, or legal obligations change.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
